矢部桜　Sakura Yabe

1995年生まれ。2023年東京藝術大学大学院工芸科漆芸専攻修了。在学中にスウェーデンの手工芸学校にて木彫や陶芸、織物を学び、地方を巡りながら制作を行ったことをきっかけに、滞在中に出会った手工芸品や民族芸術に見られる素朴な美しさに影響を受け、近年は人々の生活のそばにある漆芸や工芸の在り方を模索しながらものづくりをしている。漆芸以外にも、板絵や点描画など、あらゆる媒体による制作を行う。

Sakura Yabe
Born in 1995. Completed her MFA in Lacquer Art at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2023.
During her studies, she spent time at a craft school in Sweden, where she learned wood carving, ceramics, and textile practices while traveling across the region. Through these experiences, she developed a strong affinity for the simple beauty found in traditional crafts and folk art.
In recent years, she has explored ways in which lacquer and craft can exist closer to everyday life. In addition to lacquer, she also works across a wide range of media including panel painting and pointillism.
